NAW Controls

Neville Whyte CEO of NAW Controls gives his views and comment on his personal experience with Intercept and the impact of Intercept Same Page for the organisation he founded many years ago.

“We had 3 senior staff members who had driven the business to its current position and we were looking to introduce some formal management training to this senior group to enhance their business people, and planning skills…

After participating in one on one work and undergoing a self analysis program with all 3 senior staff members involved, we identified various skills sets that were lacking, ie people skills, communication skills, planning, delegating etc. and these were the types of skills training we were looking for Intercept to assist in training for.

We believed Intercept was going to be able to help us bridge the skills shortages we identified by customising the sessions to suit without being overly managed in the style of an A.I.M course.

The process wasn’t smooth sailing from the start . We found it was aimed at analysing each others styles and how we interacted rather than specific skills shortages. It was after these initial sessions that I met with Intercept to re-address where we were heading.

It was then that the Intercept Same Page program was introduced to assist in getting NAW’s company culture into writing so to speak.

With staff numbers always increasing it was important for NAW to put in place a tangible set of guidelines (company ethos) to ensure all existing staff and new staff joining the company were made aware of what is expected in relation to work ethic, attitude etc. From this, the NAW WAY our Pillars of success was born.

As a company NAW had a culture that was an unknown / unwritten we knew it was there, but what was it?

The same page program assisted in getting the thoughts and values of the key members in NAW up in lights!! The presentation of The NAW Way was an excellent tool to make all staff aware of what is expected of them and also highlight how important each individual within the company is to the company’s long term success.

With many differing personalities and work ethics it was important to have everyone pushing in the same direction, ie: Same Page.

In summary, if you are about to embark on Intercept Same Page, make sure you have a set of goals whilst maintaining flexibility to adjust these goals as variables present.

The same page program works well if people keep open minds and speak honestly. Communication with the Intercept team is paramount. If the program is deviating from what you want, let them know asap, this is Intercepting the program as the name suggests. You, as the client, have control of your program and the Intercept team are great at re adjusting and re focusing when required.

From rocky beginnings and getting off track with the original goals, the Intercept program presented us a workable set of company ethics which we now proudly display throughout our office.

It is these Pillars of Success that our staff refer to in times of frustration, doubt and also success.

The pillars have also provided our staff with the ability to speak openly about work related issues and work through these with little fuss, which is a great thing for team harmony”
